Mid Volume Manufacturing
Mid-volume manufacturing covers production runs of 1,000 to 10,000 parts. This volume tier balances tooling investment against per-unit cost. Aluminium molds or P20 soft steel tooling reduce upfront costs, while production processes remain consistent with higher-volume methods.
Mid-volume production is suitable for product launches, ongoing small-batch supply, design-iteration programs, and markets where annual demand does not justify full hardened steel tooling.
What Sets Us Apart
Engineering-Led Manufacturing
Aluminium tooling
reduces upfront investment by 30-50% vs production hardened steel molds.
Single-facility management
faster response to design changes.
ISO 9001:2015 certified
batch inspection records on every production run.
Scalable
aluminium tooling can be upgraded to steel if volumes grow beyond mold life.
Our Mid-Volume Capabilities
Plastic Injection Molding
Aluminium or P20 soft steel tooling for 1,000-50,000 shots. Part quality and cycle times comparable to production steel tooling. Suitable for all standard thermoplastic materials.
CNC Machining
No tooling required. Suitable for metal and plastic parts at mid volumes where geometry or material does not suit molding. Each part produced directly from CAD.
Compression Molding
Multi-cavity aluminium compression molds for mid-volume rubber parts. Suitable for seals, gaskets, and silicone parts at 1,000-10,000 pieces.
LSR Injection Molding
Aluminium LSR tooling for mid-volume silicone parts. Same process quality as steel tooling at lower initial cost.
Our Process
STEP 1
Volume Assessment
Confirm production quantity and program duration.
STEP 2
Tooling Strategy
Aluminium or soft steel tooling recommended based on volume, geometry, and design stability.
STEP 3
Mold Fabrication
Tooling produced, trialed, and approved.
STEP 4
Pilot Production Batch
Initial production run with full dimensional inspection report.
STEP 5
Ongoing Production
Repeat batches scheduled as required. Tooling maintained by NICE Rapid.
STEP 6
Scale Review
Option to upgrade to steel tooling if volume increases beyond aluminium mold life.
Materials
Material specifications depend on process. Full material tables are available on the CNC Machining, Plastic Injection Molding, Compression Molding and Die Casting.
